400 to graduate from UMCAT this August

Over 400 students are set to graduate with diplomas and certificates in different disciplines from UMCAT School of Journalism and Mass Communication. The 11th graduation will be held on 25th August, 2017 at the Institute’s main campus located in Bukesa, Plot 2 Kyadondo road off Sir Apollo Kaggwa Road under the theme; “Championing Journalism training, Multimedia and Ethics in a digital era”

The disciplines include; Journalism and Mass Communication, Business and Information Technology, Social works and Social Administration among others.

Gen. Salim Saleh Akandwanaho, Special Presidential Advisor on Defense and Security, is expected to preside over the ceremony as Chief Guest. The event will attract various students from upcountry centers expected to graduate in these fields.

Over time the institute has put emphasis in promoting gender equity in admission to Journalism and media courses and is therefore proud to note that there are more female graduates in this graduation ceremony than their male counterparts.

“Our vision is to be world class journalism, multimedia and business training institute and have since inception developed some of Uganda’s most proficient and successful media practitioners to date,” says Mr. Charles Ogwel, director UMCAT.

UMCAT School of Journalism and Mass Communication is one of the leading private institutions in Uganda and has over time gained popularity as the best journalism training institute in the country since 1997.

The institute has over time distinguished itself into a unique brand on the market, attracting students from all parts of Uganda and neighboring countries such as Burundi, D.R.Congo, Kenya, Southern Sudan, Tanzania, Rwanda and as far as West African  that is, Nigeria and Cameroon.

“The impact of UMCAT’s vision is evidenced by UMCAT graduates and alumni who occupy various leadership positions influencing policies and changing the country,” adds Mr. Ogwel.

During the event, UMCAT School will launch an academic scholarship scheme aimed at giving assistance to committed but economically challenged students.
