Born on 12 July 1994, Dorcus Ajok, the Ugandan athletic star can simply be described as a person who entered a marriage with athletics. And only old age or death can do them apart.
Ajok, who was once on her way to an athletics competition broke her leg but recovered and still returned to the sport.
Again she was forcefully pulled out of a race by her mom but forged her way back to the sport.
The middle distance runner was even disqualified from the semis in the 800m in University games Korea in 2015 and also barred from featuring in the fifteen hundreds heat but she braved the disappointment and stayed in sport.
Her graduation to the national team was last year. But she didn’t make it to the national team that took part in the Rio Olympics. She collapsed within five meters to the finishing line of the qualifying 800meters but still even that didn’t deter her from the sport.
Ajok, the Ndejje University student made her maiden national team appearance at the recently concluded IAAF World Cross-Country Championship held at Kololo Airstrip.
She took part in the mixed relay which had two men and two women each running a two kilometer lap at the IAAF world X-country championship in Kampala.
She has won a series of honors in several university competition.
- Gold medalist at the World University Games 800 meters
- Gold medalist at the Africa University Games in 800 & 1500 meters
- Gold medalist at the East Africa University Games 800 & 1500 meters in Korea 2014
- Sliver medalist at the World Varsity X-country
- Bronze medalists at the Africa University 4×400 relay.
