Have you been admitted for a science course in any University in Uganda and are looking around for how to pay for it? You stand a chance of being given a loan by the government of Uganda if you meet the requirements.
In an interview with the Executive Director of the Higher Student Financing Board, Mr. Micheal Wanyama, LinkmeUG can reliably inform 1st year students that this is possible. Below are the terms of this loan scheme.
- 1200 Ugandan students to be funded this academic year.
- Loan covers science courses in the year 2015/16 academic year.
- Covers tuition, research fees, functional fees and NOT HOSTEL OR FOOD
- Loan will be discontinued if the beneficiary performs poorly at school.
- Money is sent to universities on a semester basis through out the course.
- Applicants should be needy, and all will undergo a needs’ test which considers former school attended, gender, orphanage among others.
How to access the loan
Go to your university or any Centenary bank branch and ask for the students loan scheme. Application forms can be picked from there or downloaded from the website www.hesfb.go.ug and returned to the bank after paying an application fee of 30,000/= to Centenary Bank only.
